Optimum Sports End of Cricket Season 2020 Roundup

For all of us, 2020 has been a very challenging and unusual year. We’ve faced many bumps in the road that simply couldn’t have been foreseen. However, we’ve risen above these challenges at Optimum Sports and have seen some significant highlights over the past year too.

In this blog, we share with you a number of key moments of the 2020 cricket season, along with some of our greatest successes and achievements as a brand.

We marked the beginning of the year with the launch of our 2020 cricket range, which included some stylish platinum and carbon cricket bat models that flew out the door as quickly as they came in. We also saw a rise in popularity and demand for our new range of black luggage.

Then, just as we had supplied several clubs with great sublimated kits for the season ahead, we hit lockdown in mid-March and the ECB made the announcement that the cricket play was on hold for the foreseeable. It stayed this way until the Prime Minister made an off-the-cuff remark that Cricket could restart the next weekend.

Immediately following this, Cricket came out of hibernation with gusto and despite the condensed season, we still went on to sell out of many items. We’re now awaiting our next delivery, which is imminent, so that you can stock up on all your favourite cricketing goods ahead of the pre-season.

With the relaunch of the season, we went on to see Durham County Cricket Club’s Liam Trevakis kitted out in Optimum Cricket equipment, playing T20 Vitality Blast and narrowly missing out on a spot in the quarterfinals.

Then as the strangest cricket season was brought to a close, it was an exciting time for us as we watched the West Indies Women’s opener, Deandra Dotten, reach the car park with her Optimum Cricket Equipment in the T20 Series against the England Women’s team. True to form, she batted her way to the highest score of the series.

Optimum Cricket Academy also enjoyed a successful launch with several high-profile clubs taking advantage of the services offered, with a particularly great uptake on our Summer Camps.

From the high expectations we had pre-season, to the disappointment of having to tread water throughout lockdown, and the excitement of having both Liam and Deandra on board, this year has been filled with many ups and downs.

We have some exciting developments in the pipeline for the next season ahead that we are tirelessly working on and we can’t wait to share them all with you very soon!

In the meantime though, you can still shop the most up to date Optimum Cricket collection online, including kits, equipment and training gear.

Thank you for your continued support during this turbulent, yet successful cricket season – stay safe!
